Office Gifts Are More Than They Used To Be

As a Marketing Executive, one of the best parts of my job is finding purchasing the latest in promotional products for our company. Promotional and executive gifts have gone beyond the days of squishy stress balls and basketball nets for the trashcan. Even the standard business card holders have evolved from the typical silver and brass collections to snazzy colored leather. A fun place to peak at some of the hottest promotional items is at a trade show.

Some people attend trade shows to visit favorite vendors and see the latest and greatest in technological gadgets. Not me. I go to see what office gifts other businesses have chosen with the hopes that interested parties will remember their service offerings. The cooler the gadget, the more likely it is to sit out on someone’s desk in full view. And if something is trendy enough to sit out on a desk, it will for sure draw folks in for conversation. The best promotional item is a Marketer’s secret dream! In recent years, I’ve seen a greater assortment of feminine desk accessories. It’s refreshing to see products designed with a feminine flair. Women do make up a large chunk of the business world these days.

So the next time you travel to a show and collect loads of give-aways from vendors, be sure to drop your favorite ones off with the marketing department: your donations will help them find a toy or executive gift that your customers and associates will love.
