Do you shop much online? I do. And I often laugh about it. I can’t tell you how many conversations I used to have with people about how I would NEVER shop online. I liked going to the stores too much. I needed to touch and feel the cotton before I bought the shirt I thought I wanted to wear. Even that thought makes me giggle because I have never really liked to go shopping. I didn’t have children yet when internet shopping started to take off. So the only shopping I could do was after work hours or on weekends when it seemed like everyone and her sister was out shopping. Way too many people fighting for parking spaces for my taste. Although, I will admit to loving being at the mall on Christmas Eve to buy presents. It’s when you get the best bargains. It’s also when you have zero time to make a decision and are forced to buy a gift. Maybe that’s why I loved shopping then.
Anyway, now that I have a family, I find I enjoy shopping even less. It’s rare when I get to wander to any store without someone aged 7 or younger. And I spend more time saying, “We didn’t come here to buy that.” or “No, you can’t have the candy. We have candy at home.” or, my personal favorite, “Please hold onto the cart while we walk through this parking lot loaded with moving vehicles.”
I have, officially, joined the ranks of the savvy online shoppers of the world. And I take great pleasure in scoping out the latest and greatest deals on the web. One of my tricks to saving cash is to never, ever buy anything in season. Always wait for the end of season sales. Since those sales tend to hit in the middle of whatever season the store claims is at its end, I can usually still get some current fashions at a great price. My other secret? Never, ever click the submit button without checking for online promo codes.
Last week, I came across this fantastic website with more promo codes than I knew what to do with. I have a total weakness for stores like Kohl’s and Target. And I love shopping at Amazon so much that I do pay the annual fee to have free 2-day shipping for every purchase. And how cool is it that this site let’s you sing up for a newsletter to keep me posted on the latest promos for stores local to me. I’d much rather review one email message loaded with deals and promo codes than to review a message from my favorite vendors.
It’s almost back to school time for my kids. The very thought just seems crazy, since they’ve only been on vacation for about two weeks. Still, before i know it, we’ll be looking for school supplies and new clothes. Thank goodness I can shop from the comfort of my own home and save money with some great deals, all because I have access to some fantastic promo codes.
