A message of peace

He was wearing all black – leather mostly. He had thick, dark hair complete with mustache and beard. His eyes were warm, playful and brown. He was wearing this long, black cape with a pointy collar that stood up around his neck. He looked very Medieval and not scary at all. I was intrigued. I knew he was here to tell me something… but what, exactly?

He was walking down this gorgeous tunnel of canopied trees. The green was bright and brilliant. I could see the sun shining through the top. I was mesmerized by the brilliant green. It was all so beautiful.

I asked him what he wanted, and he threw something that looked like a white envelop to me. It was kind of glowing a little. I caught it. When I opened it, the white turned into a dove and flew away.

In analyzing the symbols that I saw, I’m even more humbled and mesmerized by the whole experience.

First and foremost are the trees. I can’t describe how beautiful they were. According to Aisling Ireland’s website (seriously, I didn’t even catch this woman’s name before reading this page on dreams)

Trees symbolize life and the soul. Some change with the seasons and others stand up to harsh conditions. Trees beautify the earth and some provide food for both humans and animals, such as fruit, nuts and berries. Birds nest in trees and other animals hide within their branches for safety. The meaning of trees in your dream depends on a multitude of factors.

Dreaming of budding trees in the spring may herald a new cycle or rebirth, including death. Summer indicates the development of self-reliance and strength to surviving rough conditions in your life. The changing and falling leaves of autumn symbolize shedding what is no longer needed so that changes can occur. Harvesting the work of the past is also represented. The bare trees of winter can symbolize a time of dormancy, to sort things out and rest before beginning something new.

If I had to pick a season, I would say it was summer. I saw LOTS of trees… perhaps an indication that I am stronger than I realize?

Now let’s look at colors.

Black

For alchemists, black symbolized the beginning of the process of spiritual development. Black was the color which symbolized confusion, and a feeling of despair. It might be thought of as the color of wandering in the desert, feeling like nothing good will ever happen.

But wandering in the desert allows us to give up those things we no longer need, it allows for old parts of ourselves to die off so that new life may spring up. Even the mighty oak must first spend time as an acorn lying in darkness before it can reach up toward the sky.

How very powerful. I”m letting go of the old and making room for the new?

And for green… I found this from the Dream Journal Website:

This may indicate a process of positive change or some kind of personal growth. Strangely enough, it is often found in dreams about peace and heaven. This suggests it is linked with feelings of relaxation and well-being. When dark greens occur, this may refer to negative intentions, or the emerging of depressive attitudes, even sickness, envy or jealousy

This is what it says about the dove:

Realisation of our internal nature. Peace, love or intuition.

The Dream Journal website has some interesting interpretations for black and trees too.

So for me, this was very spiritual and a reminder that I am surrounded by peace and love. It also tells me that I can let go of the past and move onto a clear and peaceful future.
