Loving Daddy time

My fabulous One-and-Only (OAO) is upstairs making cookies with the kidlets. I love listening to the laughter from all three of them as they create those tasty treats. Partly because I know it's just adding to the fun memories of their carefree childhood days. Partly because it reminds me of some wonderful times with my sperm donor when he was around in my carefree days of youth. OAO has so much patience with them - much more so than I usually do when they're helping me in the kitchen. Normally I just want to get it done without the added distraction. Every time he bakes with them, I'm subtly reminded how I can sometimes let the unimportant things get in the way of having fun.

Before they went up to bake cookies, OAO shared a little song with me he heard today. It's funny... and unfortunately very true. While I believe that women are just as strong and powerful and have just as much to offer this world as men... I also believe that men are beginning to get a little trampled on and neglected. That's not good either.

Most issues go from one extreme to another before balancing out in the happy-medium where everyone is happy. I'm ready for the happy-medium, quite frankly. Then again, all I know is a world where woman fight for equality. I don't know the world where that doesn't exist. Much like I don't know the world where the color of skin made a difference in the way someone was treated.

So here's a tribute to men - especially the ones of my generation who have grown up treating women with respect.
