Cutting the crap...

... out of my children's food, that is :)

Feeding my children, especially my daughter, has become a bit of a challenge. If I would let her, she would live on chocolate and ice cream, perhaps with a donut thrown in here and there.

But, I bought this cookbook last week... and it ROCKS! Now, I can feed her all of her favorite foods, and sneak in some really healthy things. Tonight we had mac and cheese (boxed, which I never make) with hot dogs. The kids didn't even noticed I snuck in some pureed white beans into the cheese sauce. Ha! And the other day for breakfast they had banana chocolate ice cream: which was a frozen banana, some cocoa, and a little but of yogurt. They loved it! The best part was they thought I was feeding them junk.

So now, I can give them their favorite foods while hiding some great nutrients into them. Since I'm a firm believer that our bodies serve us best because we eat minimally processed foods, this cookbook is a lifesaver :)

BTW, while I grew up eating loads of boxed mac and cheese and hot dogs, loving every bite, I just can't bring myself to feed them to my children with any sort of regularity: too much sodium and chemicals. So, I did buy them from Trader Joe's which means no preservatives, artificial colors, nitrates or other icky stuff. Still lots of sodium, but, I'll take what I can get.

Oh, and the book is called The Sneaky Chef It rocks.
